Truck #2
I am drawn to old, rusting vehicles that I spot on my travels. Particularly, I’m attracted to obvious signs of abandonment. Rust, discoloration, flattened tires, missing or broken parts, all provide a richness and texture that catch my attention. I usally work these subjects from photographs, and emphasize the rendition of the details I just mentioned. Often the physical signs of abandonment in the photograph also include overgrown vegetation. Yet, I choose to depict the trucks in complete desolation, inspired by Dalian landscapes. 18×24″ oil on canvas
